I just got what i believe to be a Model 8 in 35 Rem as part of a payment for a long overdue loan.
it has a 3 digit serial number 7xx, on the receiver, the rear tang and even in stamped in the buttstock.
I am pretty sure that it has sat in a closet for decades.
this is a plain jane model. No scroll work, no checkering. Not molested, no addon buttpad nor drilled and tapped for a scope mount.
Just a plain old gorgeous gun. varnish appears original and not flaking bluing not thinned out. bore nice and bright.
Anyone have an idea what it may be worth to a collector.
It's too pretty to shoot and that said, I only keep shooters.

Got to see pictures to be able to give even a ball park figure. With a gun that old, and with "bluing not thinned out". There is a high probability that it's been re-blued. Which, of course, makes a "very pretty penny's" worth of difference.

yeah, and now that i look at it even further. I am now suspecting it of having a reblue at some time. When i look at the images of the barrel sleeve and compare that to some of the other weapons on this site that have all of their metal finish worn away. The patent info seems sharper and not as round as this example. Drat. Well, it doesn't have any additional holes for a scope.

Somebody will really want that one because of the early features. If functionality is good, then all the better. Of course, it's been completely redone with dip bluing all over, including the bolt handle, which was originally left in the white. It has a white line butt plate...which is very 1950s. Very nice refinished wood which doesn't look like it was sanded too much. With the high prices, or what I perceive as high prices, which you see on internet auctions, I really don't know if I can do an adequate job of telling you what your gun will bring. Kinda depends on how you sell it. I can see you getting $350 easy and maybe up as high as $500. But who can tell what people will actually pay when it comes down to it.

Aw shucks. I was kind of hoping for a home run on this one to recoup a big chunk of what i was owed.
I wound up getting few other guns (levers, pumps and semi-autos) , all first year of production or 1 year of specific caliber/guage but this was the oldest and the nicest.
Oh well.
Thanks for the info Hardrada55
