A new miniseries on Bonnie & Clyde will be shown on the History Channel, A&E and Lifeline on December 8-9. The trailer shows William Hurt as Frank Hamer brandishing a Remington Model 8, and also using a Colt Monitor. www.history.com/shows/bonnie-clyde/about

Thanks for the link Zanoya. www.thegreatmodel8.net worked with the armorer of this series, Peter Orr, on the historical firearms used in the ambush. Obviously, exact representations, of each firearm were not used. The armory did not have a Model 8 but used a Model 81 in place of it. You can tell if you look closely at the shot of Frank Hamer (William Hurt) holding the gun. Clearly and 81, but only guys like me would probably notice! It'll be worth checking out!

Would you be able to post any photos of the guns used in the production?

Reportedly there is a movie about Frank Hamer in the works as well, titled The Highwayman. Liam Neeson reportedly has been cast as Hamer, and John Lee Hanthingy will be directing.

Would you be able to post any photos of the guns used in the production? Sorry I don't have any photos of the guns. The armory ultimately chose what guns they wanted in the show, but we discussed with them what guns were known to be present (according to photographs from the day of the ambush). I saw in the trailer they showed a Colt Monitor and a Thompson SMG which are not correct. All I know about the Model 81 used in the film is that it supposedly was also used in the film The Rocketeer (1991). I'll be on the lookout for the Hamer film, if they don't include a Model 8 somewhere in there it will be a crime! haha
