I came across this very cool magazine fed, pump rifle, chambered in 300 Savage. "E. G. REISING RARE PREPRODUCTION PROTOTYPE SLIDE" The auction description is as follows... "Eugene G. Reising (November 26, 1884 – February 21, 1967) was a competitive shooter & ordnance engineer who held over 60 firearm patents. Most famous for his Reising submachine guns, produced at H&R beginning in 1940. After leaving H&R he also designed rifles for Mossberg, Marlin, Savage & Stevens. US Patent 2,317,641 covering the design of this rifle was submitted by Reising in 1939 & issued in April 1943. This unique preproduction rifle was developed during Mr. Reising’s time at H&R. Just as competition forced Remington to drop rifles such as the Model 720 in favor of the Model 721 which required less hand fitting, so did changing times prevent H&R from producing this fine rifle. For the collector who focuses on American inventors, this rifle may represent a once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire a virtually unknown firearm of uniquely American design"

That's a fascinating pump action rifle. Too bad they didn't put it into production after WW2. It would have given the Model 14 and the new Remington pump rifles that came out in the early 50s a run for their money, I bet.
