While visiting my student this weekend, we went to the Austin Gun Show on N. Lamar Sunday. Back in the back was what appeared to be a "B" grade Remington Model 81 with (of course) what looked like factory checkering, a little nicer wood than usual and a period Unertl scope on it. 5 hole side mount. Serial was 37xxx and it had a repair "3" code on it. Owner said it was worth $900 but he'd let me have it for $600. I hesitated and he went down to $550. Looked like a nice gun except for the scope. Used but not abused. I left it sitting there.
Also saw an OK 1888 Commission rifle (1890 date, I don't remember arsenal) decent bore, 05 modifications for $195.

Good find. Look forward to pictures of that "B" stock.
