I saw a photo of a Standard Arms rifle maybe 30 years ago and thought it was interesting looking but not as "cool" as the military rifles that I was then collecting. Came across a few more photo sets of Standards a month or two back and have decided that I'm finally old enough to fully appreciate a Standard Arms rifle. I would appreciate someone pointing me in the direction of a decent Model M for sale (not a G) at a reasonable price (caliber unimportant, only condition requirement is no pitting!). Thanks much.

Don't like the looks of the Gas model...let's face it, when you are considering using a 100 year old rifle with its dated technology, then having it look "right" to the eye is important vis a vis the technology trade off! For example, I have a Winny 07 but want to trade it for a 05; the 07 is just to beefy looking for me.
