I hadn't given it much thought until today. My 8 is a hundred years old this year, what better way to celebrate than take her out for her big day. I best get a load working for it now! A former co-worker stopped by today and mentioned he is working on 110 acres of prime hunting land with two great whitetails lurking about it on a regular basis. He said if they weren't good enough there were roughly 20 other bucks he has seen roaming the land. Sounds like a great opportunity to go hunting only 25 minutes from home, instead of almost an hour. Which one are you taking and what are you hoping to tag with it?

I usually take my 8 out once or twice a year. The model 141 pump more often. My Marlin 336 most of the time. (all 3 of these rifles are 35 Remington) I will take the 1895 Winchester (reproduction) out a couple times, too. It's hard to leave them at home, but they are too heavy to take them all at one time!
The 270 is "on loan" to my buddy's son. (He killed his first deer with it last year!)

Quite often the old Swiss Vetterli made it to the back field to wait for a buck, my 7x57 came along in case something outside 150yds stepped out that wasn't worth risking a miss. Hauling multiple guns to the field separates the men from the boys for sure. lol This year will be no different.

I plan to hunt whitetail deer with my Model 81 300 Savage this season during the either sex hunts. I also plan to get the Model 141 35 Remington in on the action. Huntin' ought to be fun! ;D
