www.auctionarms.com/search/displayitem.cfm?itemnum=9864619&oh=216543i am new to this sight and new to the 8/81's. i bought this for a shooter and know it will never be a collector becuase first the gun has swivels added and it appears the stock is refinished (i don't know if it is suppose to have a gloss/semi-gloss or oil) according to Jack the wood is low at the tang. also the coloring of the safty lever looks more worn than the rest of the blueing. anything else you may see wrong with this gun let me know. all in all it looks great for a 73 year old. did i pay too much? thanks joe

I think that's a good looking early 81 myself. I don't think the stock looks particularly like it was refinished. The safety lever...that is kinda strange that it would loose it's blue like that. That safety lever may indeed be a replacement, or it may be that particular part was in with a batch of parts that didn't get blued very well and it "wore" faster than the rest of the gun. I like the sling swivels. I don't think I would have paid quite that much for one of equal condition. But I wouldn't have saved much money over what you paid for this one. Probably I would part with $450 or $500. I do know that these are going up in value all the time. Remember the old saw...."I didn't pay too much....I just bought it too soon."
