Yup, very pretty wood.
Mine is also a 12 gauge and is the "Sportsman" model. Plain vanilla wood, but I love the old girl!

I believe that these old Rem model 11's are among the best shotgun buys around. They are all old. The last was made in 1948. They shoot like a dream, work like an Auto 5. You can switch that little ring to shoot heavy or light loads.
They are heavy.....but it's Browning auto!

Beautiful gun.
I got my grandpas Model 11 along with his Model 8 rifle just yesterday.
For it's size, it really isn't that heavy. I haven't shot it yet, but he first dry Saturday we get I'll be at the range tying it out.
I need to get a decent pic of it, then I'll post it.
