No posts here yet so I thought I'd start a thread. This is my old Colt 1911 made in 1918. I added the real stag grips myself and I shoot it in Cowboy action "Wild Bunch" shoots.

Hey docneeley, that's good lookin' gun! I'm just beginning to appreciate John Browning's other creations, particularly the 1911.

Nice! I really like the grips--great job! Did you do your own leather, or is it "store bought"?

Browning's 1911 my all time favorite, I have carried one for about 15 yrs ,shot lots of piggys with one. Thats the first gun my son Colt shot when he was five. Like the cowboy rig I will have to post my rig very similar but with checkered buffalo bone grips. Great lookin' rig ;D

Mine was manufactured in 1919, reworked during WWII with a High Standard barrel. The grips are Herretts.

I have a Union Switch & Signal 1911 that I shoot on occasion. They were made during WWII in rather low numbers. Mine is in very good original condition.
My shooter/carry 1911 is a 5" carbon steel Springfield "Loaded" version that I had Robar put their excellent NP3 coating on. They also added tritium Novak sights to replace the standard Novaks that came on the gun.

They are very uncommon here in Canada, and considered one of the "Holy Grail" for 1911 collectors here. I'm still kicking myself for selling this old Colt - I reparked it (it was already bubba'd) and thought I was doing well to make a few bucks on it This is my "carry gun" (if we were allowed to do such a thing here ), Novak Colt Commander

Canuck,
The US&S 1911s are very uncommon here in the States as well. I'm working on getting set up to post photos, and when I do, I'll post some of mine.
Your Novak Colt Commander is a good looking pistol.

I also like that Novak Commander - but make mine in .38 Super.
