I reloaded for my Winchester .32 Self Loader using Starline 32-20 brass, Lyman 321298 mold, RCBS 32 WSL dies. I used 11.5 gr IMR 4227. Everything worked well. The brass ejected perfectly, accuracy was good. But...when I resized the fired brass with the RCBS dies, there is not enough neck tension to hold the cast bullets. I made up 20 rounds using the fired brass, using a 32-20 factory crimp to hold the bullet in place. The seated bullet is able to spin by hand but will not move forward or backward. At the range, everything went well - the cases ejected, accuracy was the same. Should I... 1. get a fatter bullet (the bore measures .32, the bullets measure .322). I have not made a cast of the chamber. 2. find a die that will neck size the brass, maybe S&W .32. From what I've read, 32-20 dies will not neck size without sizing the entire case. 3.keep loading with the factory crimp as long as everything works correctly. I'm not too concerned with accuracy as long as the rounds are safe. Thanks.

I do not see any safety issue, unless a bullet gets seated deeper while cycling. A fatter bullet would be the easiest solution. You can get there by changing your lead/tin ratio or lapping your mold. castboolits.com has a lot of info, and if you want to try lapping the mold search 'beagling' and beagle.. Named after the screenname of the guy who wrote up the process, I am not pulling your leg.

I checked it out and I'll give it a try. Thanks.
I bought the tape, put 1 layer on, cast a few bullets, then 2 layers on, cast up a few more bullets. 2 layers brings the bullet right where it should be. I loaded up a few dummy rounds and the neck tension is perfect. What a simple solution. Thanks.

I'm curious if 327 Federal brass would work in the 32 WSL? It's 1.20 inches rather than 1.24, but seems like it might work.
